The greenness of our electricity varies throughout the day
As fossil fuels such as coal get phased out in the UK, we will rely more on renewable energy sources such as wind and solar to fill the gap.
When there is lots of sun and wind, electricity suppliers are more likely to use renewable sources for power. Overcast and calm weather increases the reliance on fossil fuels.
With the WWF Green Energy Forecast, you can find out when the greenest and dirtiest hours of the day will be, up to 24 hours in advance. And you can plug in electric appliances such as washing machines and dishwashers at the greenest time of day.
