Our business partners have done some great work to reduce their environmental impact and support vital conservation work. But no single business can deliver the big changes we need to protect the planet and move to a sustainable future.

For that to happen, we need to change whole systems – like global commodity markets, agricultural production systems, energy generation and finance models. We’ve created spaces where industry, investors, consumer groups and policy-makers can work together to tackle complex international issues and develop new ideas and solutions.

Finance

The finance sector continues to support destructive business sectors and practices, like fossil fuels and unsustainably produced commodities. But it can also use its investments as a source for good. We’re involved in a number of initiatives to help do that, including:

CDP, an organisation that represents institutional investors with over with US$100 trillion of assets, which lobbies companies to take action on climate change, forests and water.

The Finance Innovation Lab, which supports people working to change the financial system to develop their ideas.

BankTrack, an international NGO that lobbies commercial banks to build sustainability into their lending.

ShareAction, a charity that promotes responsible investment by pensions funds and other investment.

UK Social Investment Forum, which promotes responsible finance that supports sustainable economic development, quality of life and the environment.
