WWF reacts to Rosebank oilfield court judgement

Rick Parfett, WWF’s senior climate policy advisor said: “This court ruling has rightly told the oil giants, who continue to fuel the climate crisis, that the disastrous climate impact of burning oil must be fully considered before any future drilling can be approved.

“Wringing the last dregs of oil and gas out of the North Sea will not cut consumer bills or grow the UK economy. Rosebank’s oil would mainly be sold overseas, frying the planet without heating the UK’s homes.

“The UK Government should reject any revised application and focus on turbocharging clean energy manufacturing and supply chains, which will deliver sustained growth and good jobs for affected workers.”
