FAQ

Please find our frequently asked questions below:

How do I sign up and collect donations?

You can register for the challenge and your free WWF neck buff here! Share your fundraising page with friends and family and ask them to sponsor you to complete your miles.

I don't have a dog, can I still take part?

Of course! We’d love you to join us whether you have a four-legged friend or not. You can still complete the miles on your own or with a pal.

I'm worried I won't get any donations

Remember, you’ve got plenty of time to collect donations, so try not to worry. Here’re some of our top fundraising tips:

Donate to your own fundraiser – it shows your friends and family that you’re taking your challenge seriously!
See if your employer has a ‘matched donations’ policy – you could potentially double the amount your raise!
Keep your friends and family updated with your challenge and they'll donate once they see what you're doing.
Personalise your fundraiser blurb & photo - this makes a huge difference! Tell people what's motivated you to take on the challenge.

How do we track our miles and do I need to provide evidence of completing them?

There's no need to prove you've completed your miles - but you're able to log your miles on your WWF fundraiser so you can keep track and share your progress with friends & family so they can see how well you're doing!

For tracking on the go, there're some good free apps such as Strava, Map My Run or RunKeeper.

Pup FAQ

Please find answers to questions about your dog taking part below:

Can I set my challenge at a shorter distance if I think my dog won't be able to manage the 100 miles?

Absolutely! We want everyone to be able to enjoy this challenge, and every dog is different.

The Kennel club has a helpful Breeds A to Z list of every dog and how much exercise is recommended every day depending on their breed.

You know your dog (and yourself!) best, so feel free to set your challenge to a lower distance target.

What safety precautions should me and my dog take?

Safety is the top priority when taking part in our challenge. You know your dog best and we encourage you to think about the distance you walk per session and whether it is appropriate for your dog, especially if they are still a puppy. If you have any concerns about your dog, please consult your vet.

I have a puppy, can I still take part?

Puppies might find this challenge a bit too much to handle! As they’re smaller, they don’t need as much exercise yet so it’s best to check with your vet depending on their age whether you should take part. The Blue cross and The Kennel Club both offer some great advice on walking young puppies and how long you should be walking them for. If you’re not sure, please consult your vet.

I have an older dog, can I still take part?

This will vary from dog to dog! Older dogs may find it more difficult to cover long distances, however, you know your dog best. If you want to take part but at a shorter distance, please feel free to set your own lower target. If you’re not sure, please consult your vet for their expertise!

What temperature is too hot to walk my dog?

You know your dog best, but in warmer weather we recommend walking your dog in the morning or evening when it's cooler. For more information on walking dogs in warm weather, check out trusted sources such as RSPCA. Please ensure that you carry plenty of water for you and your dog and keep to the shade if needed.

Are the WWF neck buffs safe for my dog?

Our WWF neck buffs are designed for humans, so it’s completely up to you if you want your pup to sport it! If you’re fitting it on your dog, please ensure it’s comfortable and not restrictive to their breathing/movement. WWF UK accept no liability for any loss or injury caused to your dog by the use of any of our products.
