Map An Animal

This event is now closed. Thank you for taking part.

Get out and map an animal, every day between 1-7 August!

Use an app like Just Draw it or Strava to create your animal shapes and get friends and family to sponsor you for completing the challenge.

Every pound you raise helps create a world where people and wildlife can thrive together.

Below are some frequently asked questions.

This sounds great, how do I sign up?

Registration is now closed.

How do I collect donations?

We’d recommend creating a Facebook fundraiser using this link. It’s easier to do this when you’re already logged into Facebook. 100% of the donations you raise on Facebook come to WWF. Please note, your friends and family also need to be UK Facebook users to donate via Facebook. If you have friends and family who are not UK Facebook users, or who live overseas, they can give you the money directly and you can donate to your own Facebook fundraiser on their behalf.

I’ve not fundraised on Facebook before. Are there lots of donation processing fees?

Facebook fundraisers are great as 100% of your donations automatically come to WWF. Set up your fundraiser here.

Please note, your friends and family also need to be UK Facebook users to donate via Facebook. If you have friends and family who are not UK Facebook users, or who live overseas, they can give you the money directly and you can donate to your own Facebook fundraiser on their behalf.

Is there an alternative to creating a Facebook fundraiser?

Yes! We’d recommend creating a JustGiving page instead. You can also request a printable sponsorship form by emailing fundraising@wwf.org.uk

I’m worried I won’t get any donations

Remember, you’ve got plenty of time to collect donations, so try not to worry. Here’re some of our top fundraising tips

  • Donate to your own fundraiser. You’ll be setting the example for friends and family to follow.

  • See if your employer has a ‘matched donations’ policy. You could potentially double the amount your raise!

  • Keep your friends and family updated with your challenge. They’re more likely to donate once they see what you're doing.

  • Personalise your fundraiser blurb & photo. This makes a huge difference! Tell people what's motivated you to take on the challenge.

We’ll also be sharing lot of fundraising tips and ideas in the Facebook group.

Do I need to provide evidence that I’ve done my animal shapes?

No, there’s no need to send us proof that you’ve completed your animal shapes, but we’d love to see your creations! Don’t forget to keep friends and family updated too, by posting on your fundraiser, so they can see your amazing animal shapes too!

Will you provide me with anything to help complete my challenge?

Yes! We’ve got lots of free digital resources for you, saved in the Facebook group. Click here see them!

What if I don't complete the challenge?

Don't worry too much about not finishing the challenge at this stage. The most important thing is taking part and fundraising. Remember, we're all here to support you! You’ve got this!

How do I get a WWF t-shirt and eco-medal?

Once you’ve started collecting donations, please fill out this form, including the link to your fundraiser.

You’re eligible for a WWF t-shirt once you’ve raised £10 (excluding Gift Aid) and a WWF eco-medal once you’ve raised £100 (excluding Gift Aid). Please note the deadline for registering for your WWF goodies is 11th August and are only available for participants who live in the UK.

Why is there a Facebook group?

The Facebook group is a fantastic way to connect with other people doing the challenge. You can swap fundraising tips and share photos from your challenge. Plus, it’s a great way to support each other during the challenge.

How do I sign up my school to take part?

We’re so glad you want to get your school involved. Please sign yourself up following the instructions at the top of the Facebook group. Then, please send an email to fundraising@wwf.org.uk with your school name, number of students you want involved and the name of a challenge. One of the team will then get in touch with you to provide more information.

Who is Stewart Carpenter on the Facebook group?

Stewart Carpenter is the Facebook profile for a few members of WWF staff. We created the profile for this challenge, so we can answer your questions as quickly as possible.

I’ve still got questions about the challenge
