Sustainable Futures Showcase influencing the future of green careers competition spring 2024

To win: An insight day at WWF-UK head office followed up with a coaching experience to supercharge your career plans!  

Submission Guidelines: 

• To enter this competition, please complete the following form by midnight on Monday 1^st April 2024. Link to the form can be found here 
• To enter, individuals should submit a 300-word response on to the form or upload an image in a pdf or JPG format. Link to the form can be found here 
• This competition is open to UK residents aged 13-21 (you must be this age at the date of entry) excluding employees of WWF-UK 
• Children of WWF-UK employees will be permitted to enter this competition.
• If you are under 18, please ask your parent or guardian's permission to enter the competition. 
• One entry per person only. 
• No purchase necessary. 
• The closing date for receiving your entry is midnight on Monday 1^st April 2024 
• Winners will be notified on the 22^nd of April by email. 
• The winning answers will be announced by 22^nd of April by email, on social media and WWF-UK webpages, by entering this competition winners are consenting to their answers being shared. 
• Whilst the winning responses will be announced the names of winners is subject to winners' consent.  
• Subject to consent winners' names will then be announced on WWF-UK social media and webpages. 

Prizes: 

• An insight day hosted by WWF-UK at The Living Planet Centre, Woking, on the 25^th of July 2024 in Woking where winners will learn about and hear from a variety of departments across the organisation.
• Reasonable expenses will be agreed and paid for including lunch, snacks and travel.  
• Where winners are under 18 or otherwise require support to attend the experience, expenses for one accompanying adult/carer will also be covered by WWF-UK.
• Accommodation will be provided if you have to leave home before 6AM or arrive back after 10PM in order to participate in the prize.
• The date for the insight day is fixed therefore winners will need to be available on the 25^th of July 2024 in order to claim the prize. 
• On the insight day winners will get the opportunity to meet with staff from Education and Youth Engagement, Advocacy and Campaigns, and other departments. 
• On the insight day winners will also have a group coaching session which will be followed up with one further online group coaching and one session of individual coaching.
• There will be three winners in total.  
• The prize cannot be sold in any circumstances. 
• The prize cannot be exchanged for the cash equivalent or for an alternative in any circumstances.
• The winners of the competition will be notified by 22^nd April 2024. 

Winning criteria: 

To participate in this competition young people will have to submit a three-hundred-word response or an image (in a pdf or JPG format) on how to make a job role or industry more sustainable.   

Answers will be scored against the following criteria:  

Submissions will be assessed based on their creativity, practicality, and inclusivity. Judges will consider the uniqueness of ideas and contestants are expected to clearly articulate the real-world impact they aim to achieve with their submissions. Inclusivity will be a key benchmark, assessing how well the idea addresses and involves diverse perspectives. 

Overall Scoring: 

• Each criterion (Creativity, Practicality, Inclusivity) will be scored separately by the judging panel. 
• The total score will be a combination of these individual scores to determine the overall ranking of participants. A score between 0-10 for each of the 3 criteria (creativity, practicality, inclusivity) giving a total score out of 30. 
• Applicants of all ages will respond to the same question.  

Judging Panel: 

There are two stages of judging for this competition: 

1. Shortlisting by WWF UK staff in the campaigns, education, and youth engagement team. 
2. Winners selected from shortlist by panel of industry leaders across food & farming, finance & business, entertainment, sports, and fashion, ensuring a fair and comprehensive evaluation.

Judges' decisions will be final and not subject to appeal. 

Publicity and Promotion: 

• The WWF-UK reserves the right to showcase submissions to promote the sustainable futures programme and relating projects. By entering this competition, you agree to grant an irrevocable, perpetual, worldwide, royalty-free licence to WWF-UK to use your submission for this purpose. 
• WWF-UK reserves the right to alter, amend or otherwise change the terms of the competition without prior notification. 
• Any personal information collected by WWF-UK in connection with this competition will be used in accordance with WWF-UK’s Privacy Policy.
