Your Challenge
We're asking our My Footprint app community to take Earth Hour one step further this year. As well as joining millions across the globe by giving an hour for earth on Saturday 23 March from 8.30 to 9.30pm, we're asking our My Footprint app community to turn off your electricity for one hour or more for any three days, in the week leading up to Earth hour. Your check-ins will be added to the overall challenge target along with those of the rest of the app community's. An added bonus - you can save energy & money at the same time.
Together we can reduce our impact on natures precious resources, and do our bit to help protect the planet.
If you can’t switch off for Earth Hour, there are other ways you can give an hour for earth and contribute to the challenge. For example, take an hour each day doing something for nature, like cooking and eating a plant-based meal. Find more ideas on our Earth Hour webpage.
Why you're doing this
Earth Hour is an opportunity for millions of people to come together to show how much we care about the future of our planet.
In the UK and around the world, nature – our life-support system – is in crisis. We all need nature, and nature needs us to stand up for it every day. We need more people than ever to get involved in Earth Hour – individuals, businesses, communities, towns and cities, entire nations. The simple act of switching off and giving one hour for earth can drive positive changes through collective, global action while giving hope for the future.
How you'll make a difference
Earth Hour has led to the ban of plastics and other disposable packaging in the Galápagos Islands. It has also inspired the creation of a marine protected area in French Polynesia, along with many other environmental changes to protect nature and climate for present and future generations.
Together we can make small, positive changes to bring our world back to life. We all have a part to play – and WWF’s Earth Hour is a great place to start.
