'We can't let tigers become the stuff of myth and fairy tale. These majestic animals must remain to remind us of the magic inherent in reality.'
- Gary Hume, 2018
Launched in 2019 at Sotheby's, London, and concluded in 2022, Tomorrow’s Tigers was a featured project for Art For Your World. Taking inspiration from the Tibetan Tiger Rug, as well as the splendour of tigers in the wild, artists were invited to design a limited edition art rug. Tomorrow's Tigers was curated by Artwise and produced by Christopher Farr.
During the Tomorrow’s Tigers exhibition at Sotheby's in 2022, alongside the art rugs, we were delighted to present a selection of tiger-themed painting, prints, sculptures, drawings and jewellery, that were specially created and offered for sale to help WWF and the TX2 goal.

At the beginning of the 20th century, experts suggest there may have been 100,000 tigers in the wild. Today, the global population has shrunk by over 95 per cent. This is the shocking legacy of threats including rampant poaching and habitat loss which, if not tackled, could mean that tigers head towards extinction. WWF has been at the forefront of TX2 – driving ambitious and innovative conservation plans that aim to turn back the decline.
“Over this last decade, a century-long trend of wild tiger decline has been reversed – providing a glimmer of hope. Protecting tigers is even more important than just this one iconic species – their presence represents healthy ecosystems and habitats – with tiger landscapes playing a vital role in storing carbon. Sadly, the trend of recovery is not consistent across all tiger range countries, with South-East Asia a particular concern. Recovering tiger populations requires a close partnership with local communities and commitment from governments to make this a reality.”
- Becci May, WWF Senior Programme Adviser, Asian Big Cats
Tomorrow’s Tigers generated more than £1 million from the sale of these stunning and highly collectable art rugs to support this vital conservation work.
