Is wood good?

Choose FSC wood

Your Challenge

Make sure the next wood or paper product you buy is FSC-certified.

Look for the FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) logo. If it’s not there, find an alternative product that’s certified.

If you search for a product to buy, add ‘FSC’ to your search term, or look for the logo on a product or packaging.

Why you're doing this

Trees help us all. They store carbon and produce oxygen, they filter drinking water, prevent soil erosion, provide food and medicinal plants and support communities and economies.

An area of Amazon rainforest roughly the size of a football pitch is being cleared every single minute! [1] According to the IPCC, the loss of tropical forests generates nearly 50% more greenhouse gases than the global transportation sector.[2] Yet we destroy them for timber or land use and often fail to manage them sustainably.

The Forest Stewardship Council helps consumers and businesses make sustainable buying choices by adding its logo to products from forests that are sustainably managed. Sustainable management of forests ensures we can avoid fossil fuels like plastic, and use renewable materials which can be recycled and biodegrade (i.e. wood), for many years to come.

How you'll make a difference

Your sustainable choice helps reduce deforestation as well as plastic pollution, and shows support for sustainably managed forests around the world.
