UVA recreated the panda in ice, then allowed it to melt in their studio. This single image remains – the only record of its existence.
“… representative of our lack of understanding of the world we inhabit … the ice melted faster than predicted and once this image was created the piece slipped, fell and smashed into thousands of shards of ice, which melted and flooded our studio.”

United Visual Artists (UVA) is a London-based art and design collective whose practice spans permanent architectural installations, live performance and interactive art installations. R&D is core to their process enabling them to constantly explore new fields as well as re-examine more established ones. UVA’s work is about social experience, turning the audience into active participants. Collaborations with architects: OMA, Wilkinson Eyre and in the music world with: Arctic Monkeys, Basement Jaxx, Massive Attack and U2, MTV Europe. In 2008 they were shortlisted for the Darwin bicentenary Commission at the Natural History Museum, London and in the same year, they were invited to be part of Meltdown curated by Massive Attack, UVA has been selected to create two major new public Art Commissions for Maple Leaf Square in Toronto Canada.
